Jaye Moni is a prolific rapper, song writer and singer from Tottenham, North London. Jaye was born in Lagos, Nigeria and from an early age her only exposure to music was in church on Sundays. At the age of 13, Jaye stole two CDs from her older brothers collection to listen to on her walkman. One of those CDs was the Tupac album entitled 'All Eyes On Me' and it was this album that made Jaye fall in love with hip-hop. That year for Christmas her dad bought her an audio Jukebox for her room and from then on she would lock herself indoors singing or rapping along to her favourite artists as well as writing her own tracks. At the age of 16, Jaye was talent spotted by a London based producer called AQ Wolf with his own record label. He began to take Jaye Moni to record studios in London and made her a member and the first lady of Black Cash Entertainment. In this label, Jaye was not only the youngest artist but only the only female amongst a stable of male rappers. "Having to prove myself as a rapper at 16 in a label full of male lyricists greatly influenced my rap style and the way I write my bars as back then lyrics and delivery was everything. I learnt from them and began to challenge my label mates during freestyle cyphers in the studio.
Unfortunately the label situation never worked out for Jaye and at her parents insistence she shunned music to focus on obtaining her degree and then her Masters degree from UCL. In 2015, following a studio session in Nigeria, Jaye was inspired to release her music to the world. She has so far released six singles and is continuing to cement her place in the rap and afrobeats genres. She has a very exciting song with Ice Prince dropping in the new year.
